Matador At Austin’s Mid-March Trade Fair : Get Off My Lawn (And Stay In My Overpriced AirBNB Instead) Edition

Alright, the moment is almost upon us. Well, upon me, actually. The moment when my adopted hometown is overrun by the craven, the venal, the self-important and self-entitled hordes demanding free drinks, free drugs and drowning out all nuanced musical performances with their hyena-like cackling. But enough about the Matador staff, there’s loads of other horrible people descending on Austin and they DESERVE to know exactly where and when Ceremony, Iceage, Steve Gunn and The New Pornographers are appearing. And as such, Robby has carefully amended a classic Mark Ohe Matador flyer (above) — he was under strict instructions to “appropriate that shit like Robin Thicke”, and we couldn’t be happier with the results. Short of the entire week being cancelled, that is. See you in the pit(s of hell).

Singles Going Home Alone Update : Last Chance For the 2013 Edition

In the wake of singles from Jeffrey Novak, Superchunk, Cian Nugent, Lower Plenty, Bits Of Shit, Royal Headache, Outer Spaces, Smartboys and Tony Molina, the final 3 7″‘s of the 2013 ‘Singles Going Home Alone’ series are shipping to subscribers shortly ;

Sleaford Mods – “Routine Dean” b/w “Pubic Hair Ltd”

Steve Gunn – “WIldwood” b/w “Worn Threads”

Coho Lips “Less Of Everything” b/w “Lick Your Sore Chops”

The 13th / bonus single is in production and the band’s identity will revealed shortly. If you’re looking for a hint, they hail from the same region as the adopted home of last year’s bonus artist and have several records (old and not-so-old) in the Matador catalog. If that’s not setting it up for you on a tee, I don’t know what is.

There’s a handful of subscriptions still available at The Matador Store. SGHA is taking a year (decade?) off in 2014 while we fantasize about pressing plant capacity magically tripling.
