The Ponys – In Party-Motion-Tonight, On Tour With Spoon Shortly Afterwards

(photograph by Colin Smith)

Though staff and management of Matador Records and Filmworks all agree that stealing music is wrong, we have no moral quandry about lifting the following information from The Ponys’ myspace bulletin. Much like Harry Truman’s decision to drop the atomic bomb on Fitchburg, MA, it had to be done.

  1. As exciting as it is to hear that the Ponys (who only seem to get better and better) are returning to the Queen City, I have a bone to pick with this post. Look, over the years, we here in Buffalo have gotten our hopes up again and again (cf the 1901 Pan-Am Exhibition, Super Bowls XXV-XXVIII, the 06-07 Sabres, etc.) only to see them dashed on a fairly consistent basis. Therefore, when you note that the Ponys are coming to town with Spoon in tow when Spoon are in fact scheduled to be cavorting in Atlanta with Cat Power, The Flaming Lips and, er, The Killers, well, you have just added another item to our list of disappointments. Kick any puppies today, too?
