All Of A Sudden, I Prefer Jimmy Crespo

By Gerard on Thursday, October 30th, 2008

The Boston Herald’s Dave Wedge reports that Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry (above, left) has formally endorsed the Presidential candidacy of Arizona Senator John McCain. Clearly, Perry was moved to make a public statement after mulling the nefarious ways in which Peter Prescott and Barack Obama plan to redistribute his wealth.

“We pretty much stay out of it, but seeing so many people come out for Obama, I just felt like ‘What the hell, I might as well raise my hand for this side,” Perry said from his Duxbury home.

The Bay State rockers have done a few fund-raisers for the Kennedy family over the years, but Perry’s endorsement of McCain marks a first for the platinum-selling guitarist/songwriter. A lifelong Republican, he said he was inspired to come forward because of ringing McCain endorsements from Rudy Giuliani and California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger.

By Gerard on Thursday, December 20th, 2007

(Matador’s annual Xmas party for Soon-To-Be-Abandoned Kids was once again, a huge hit)

Ok, the climatic update has just been posted and while most of it is most assuredly old-fuckin’-news for regular readers of the Matablog, we have, however, managed to collect year-end Top Top Tens (12′s?  15′s?) from an All-Star cast including Stuart Braithwaite, James McNew, Roger Miller, Jennifer O’Connor, Howard Draper, Luke Horton, Times New Viking and other close pals of The Record Co.   Enjoy…and if you’re not checking your computer again until January 2, the staff, management and ownership of Matador wish you a very, very happy December 21st!

Parsefork: Your Music Taste By Number Just Got Easier

By Adam F on Friday, January 19th, 2007

numbers.jpgShit.  With all those music web sites and blogs and stuff, with all their words and stuff, it gets hurt-your-head confusing which albums to download on OINK.  Finally, the too much time on their hands folks at Wolf-Notes have come up with a better way.  With Parsefork, you can look up and sort album reviews by label, rating, artist and author – skipping all the pesky words completely. (note: and something called standard deviation which sounds like measuring band backlash?) For instance, you can quickly find all the Hollywood distributed Kemado Records' artists who have scored above a 4.0 on Pitchfork or every Cactus album reviewed by TinyMixTapes.  The possibilities are endless.

Go ahead… leave all the words behind.

Decision 2006 : I’m Cautiously Optimisitic

By Gerard on Tuesday, November 7th, 2006

If some schmucks can't tell the difference between a voting booth and a Coke machine, things are looking good for the opposition.
