(no cameras on stage tonight or tomorrow, SORRY)
Battling the rest stops and stages of the East Coast this week, The Young return to the New York area for the first time since the release of LP #3, ‘Chrome Cactus’, with appearances tonight at Glasslands (with DeGreaser) and Friday night at the Mercury Lounge. Of ‘Chrome Cactus’, the Village Voice’s Brad Cohan writes the record “bleeds teeth-sharp and moody, fuzz-drenched earworm-worthy desert jams…The Young lay on the infectiously coiled stoner highway driving songs thick on its sophomore effort, recalling ZZ Top, Television, Meat Puppets and Dead Moon on a hallucinogenic bender..weed clouded, psych anthems”. Just to clarify, this record sounds pretty fucking great when you’re not high, too..
Upon completion of the current Eastern run, The Young travel to Mexico’s San Luis Potosí for the Wird Festival (see above) on September 27, followed by an Austin headlining date at the Mohawk, Monday September 29 alongside Deaf Wish, James Arthur’s Manhunt and space rock legends ST 37.
