Out Now – Savages | Silence Yourself – Live Concert Stream This Week

By Judge on Tuesday, May 7th, 2013

This week we are hugely excited to be releasing the debut album from London’s Savages – the record that Pitchfork called “one of rock’s most commanding and ferociously poised debuts in recent years.” (Pitchfork Best New Music 8.7)

Silence Yourself | out now – Direct | iTunes | Matador | Pop Noire | Rough Trade

Silence Yourself is the Rough Trade Album of the Month for May and last night the band performed at a packed Rough Trade East in support.  It felt like a big moment for the band, the day the album is released in the UK, surrounded by family and friends and a huge line of devoted fans formed to say hi to the band after.  First in the queue was none other but Thurston Moore: “Awesome band! Got to meet them afterwards!”  I’m not sure who was more starstruck.  Testament to their incredible live show.

For those that haven’t been able to catch the band live yet, this week there will be a live webstream of their headline release-week London show at legendary Ministry Of Sound nightclub on Thursday 9th May at 9.15pm GMT / 4.15pm EST / 1.15pm PST.

In conjunction with The Creators Project and with creative direction from DARYL, the band’s performance on Thursday evening will be in-the-round, (Thunderdome style!) with the crowd surrounding the band.  The set will be filmed in full and will be available to view LIVE via a webcast at The Creators Project YouTube Channel.  Truly not to be missed.

The band will also mark album release day with an in-store performance at London’s Rough Trade East on Monday 6th May. The band will perform songs from Silence Yourself at 6pm. Wristbands will be allocated to anyone who purchases the album in store on the day of the event, with any additional wristbands given out an hour before the performance. For more information, fans should head to RoughTrade.com

Savages also recently announced a London headline show at The Ministry of Sound in London on Thursday 9th May. Continuing their search for different ways of performing music, Savages chose to curate the event at The Ministry of Sound, an intentionally unusual choice of venue for a guitar band – with one of the best QUADROPHONIC sound systems in the world. Happening the week of their album release, this intimate show will be placed all around the musicians to encourage total immersion and make this experience even more unusual and exciting. The whole evening will be curated by Savages, with films, DJ sets and special composed support slot from the band’s producer Johnny Hostile.  Watch this space for more details about the show coming soon.
