Belle and Sebastian Add 2 Dates to July Tour of North America

By Nils on Friday, May 17th, 2013

Due to overwhelming demand (by Oprah and Mormons, apparently), Belle and Sebastian have added Santa Barbara and Salt Lake City to their swelling North American July tour. While the band has started working on new material, Stuart Murdoch has said these shows are likely to be all back catalog, though anyone who’s seen the band knows their sets can vary wildly from night to night, so we recommend attending every show (except NYC, which is SOLD OUT). Check out this recent interview with Stuart, where he talks about his recently-completed God Help The Girl film, and working on new material.

Kurt Vile live on WXPN tonight

By Hector on Wednesday, May 15th, 2013

Attentive readers will remember that a few weeks ago I promised more details on a mysterious opportunity to once again here Kurt Vile strut his stuff on hometown station WXPN. The time for more details, and strutting, has arrived. TONIGHT, at 9:25PM EDT, Kurt will take to the stage at World Cafe Live to play a special solo set as part of the annual Non-Commvention (Where the AAA Radio Elite Meet to Get Hammered). If you find yourself unlucky enough to not be employed in the field of non-commercial radio (which, all kidding aside, is a pretty great field, as fields go), I encourage you to visit or 88.5FM in the City of #BROLO (as the kids say), and give KV your full attention.

(The kids do say that, right?)

Ceremony west coast tour dates & $5 Gilman Street show

By Robby on Monday, May 13th, 2013

Never slowing down, Ceremony are poised to play a number of West Coast dates in May and June. Don’t miss them.

The dates include a special show at 924 Gilman St, of which the band writes on their website:

So it’s been over a year since we last played our home, 924 Gilman Street, which is (we’re told) the longest our band has ever gone since we began. We seek to rectify this with a very unique and experimental idea: A Five Dollar Punk Show. We’ll be joined on the bill by four kindred spirits; NO STATIK, SECRET PEOPLE,FACE THE RAIL and CAGED ANIMAL and we hope you will join us too. Friday May 17th at 7:30pm. All ages, naturally. No advance tickets or any of that bullshit, just show up. Let’s hang out.
